We went to Oscar’s small family run farm just outside of Medellin with Andres and lóved it! It truely is one of the highlights of our stay in Medellin. It felt like being on the road for a day with a friend who explained a lot about life in Medellin and Colombia in general (big kuddos to Andres!). Visiting the farm was great and super authentic. Its a small farm, nothing touristy. Just a super sweet family opening the doors of their own home for us to teach us about cacao production and show us a bit about farm life in general. We started at the plantation and ended up making, eating and drinking our own chocolate. They actually grow a lot more on the farm so we also went home with freshly picked fruits. Oh happy day!
We visited with two kids (almost 2yrs old and 4yrs old) and it went great. Because of traveling with kids we preferred a private tour which was a great choice. It offers the possibility to be more flexible and gives them more space to just play around. Our oldest one really liked being outside on the farm, picking fruits and making cacao from the beans. Super educational and fun for him as well.
Andres, thanks again for showing us this great place and giving us more insight into life in Medellin.
