This tour was by far our favorite part of our trip and was truly an unforgettable experience! Our group consisted of six men and women in our late 20’s, and we selected the ATV & Guatapé tour. We booked our trip the night before, which was a seamless and pleasant experience due to Andres’s, (our tour guide) responsiveness and assistance throughout the booking process – answering all of our questions and helping us craft a custom trip. Not to mention he speaks perfect english which made the process that much easier!

Our day started with Andres picking us up at the door of our Airbnb after accommodating our schedules and finding a van suitable for our group. Along the ride, Andres shared a wealth of knowledge around current events in Medellin, Colombian history, personal anecdotes from his childhood, and just made the drive so enjoyable with his friendly conversation.

After about an hour drive, we arrived at the ATV location where Andres took care of everything once again and got us out on the ATV’s in a matter of minutes. The ATV tour was so much fun as we sped through the scenic hills of neighboring farms with spectacular views of the surrounding valley, where Andres even put his photography skills to use, capturing videos and pictures of our group. After an hour and a half of riding, we returned to the ATV camp where we grabbed beers and snacks (and some of Andres’s favorite local treats) before heading to Guatapé – there’s also a great restaurant offering lunch if you have time to stop for fresh fish!

Along the ride to Guatapé, Andres brought us out to a fantastic restaurant for lunch where he suggested authentic dishes and helped us order, as our Spanish is quite lacking. After lunch, Andres shared a comprehensive history of how Guatapé came to be, which was really interesting and informative. Once we got to Guatapé, we bought tickets for around $6 each, and hiked up to the top for an unforgettable view.

After the hike, Andres toured us around the neighboring village which was such a cool town featuring amazing Zocalo artwork all over the buildings and homes. So many picturesque moments!

Andres then brought us back to our Airbnb, even in time to make our dinner reservation!
I cannot say enough what a wonderful experience this was and what a tremendous person Andres is. He truly made this an unforgettable experience with his knowledge, helpfulness, friendship. I highly recommend any of his tours to groups of all ages as you will have a blast and experience the true beauty and authenticity that Colombia has to offer.
